VoLTE certification enables toll quality voice services to be delivered over Verizon’s nationwide network
HOD HASHARON, Israel – September 6, 2016 – Altair Semiconductor, a leading provider of LTE chipsets, today announced that its FourGee-3800 Cat-4 chipset has been VoLTE-certified by Verizon. The move expands on the previous Verizon’s device certification of Altair’s Cat-1 and Cat-4 LTE chipsets.
“This certification is an important milestone as it facilitates migration from legacy 2G/3G voice services to 4G,” said Eran Eshed, Co-Founder and VP of Worldwide Sales and Marketing at Altair. “The flexibility and cost-efficiency that VoLTE services offer for the consumer and enterprise markets are valuable for customer migration and acquisition.”
“We are pleased to see cost-efficient voice-enabled LTE solutions such as Altair’s FourGee-3800 come to market,” said Chris Schmidt, Executive Director of Device Technology at Verizon. “This expands the portfolio of chipset and module solutions available for customers to connect to Verizon, the nation’s largest and most reliable LTE network. With certified chipsets and modules, product developers can commercialize products faster and benefit from quicker certification times and lower overall cost.”
Altair’s FourGee-3800 powers millions of devices worldwide. It includes a high-performance, voice-optimized media processing subsystem running HD voice and on-chip IMS signaling. The chip supports advanced calling features such as conference calling, call waiting, and call forwarding.
