The single-mode LTE chipset developer Altair Semiconductor has announced the availability of its newest LTE-Advanced baseband processor — FourGee-3802, Telecompaper reports. The new chip is 3GPP-Release 10 compliant and is based on Altair’s patented Software Defined Radio (SDR) design and is software upgradeable to support Release 11 specs.

The FourGee-3802 baseband processor, combined with the FourGee-6300 radio chip, supports the following: Category 6 throughputs of up to 300 Mbps; carrier aggregation support for up to 20+20 MHz channels; an 800 MHz CPU subsystem; on-chip HD VoLTE; advanced LTE feature support, including TM9, eMBMS, eICIC, and Envelope Tracking (ET); the widest RF band span of 400-3800 MHz with six parallel MIMO RF ports; field-proven INCA Interference Cancellation technology; and FastBoost technology for boot and connection time acceleration and ultra-low standby and active power consumption. FourGee-3800 has already been shipped to Altair customers, while the FourGee-3802 will be production-ready in the second half.
