Sr. Software & Application Engineer (New York, NY)

Conduct IOT test plans for Altair’s 4G LTE chipset modules for consumer level products such as tablets and laptops. Conduct data throughput tests on UEs for data types like HTTP, UDP, FTP and Ping. Perform call tests and functional testing on the social networking applications, email clients, SMS/MMS services, video hosting and applications running on the LTE mobile platforms. Support Altair’s customers in integration phase and product certification for 3GPP 4G protocol L1,L2,L3 issues and Cellular LTE platform development including analyzing and debugging system level issues with the embedded software and cellular platform, working with Altair’s R&D teams and addressing customer issues and resolving software bugs.

Educational/experiential requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, information technology, or related field
  • Two years of experience in embedded software development including 4G LTE Cellular protocol stack and Cellular LTE platform development.

Skill Requirements:

  • Must have proficiency in 4G LTE network protocols and knowledge in TCP\IP, LWM2M, MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, VoLTE, VOIP, AWS, and CoAP.
  • Must have knowledge of 4G/LTE protocol stack, 3GPP Access Stratum protocols (L1/L2/L3), 4G cellular platform, software development and the development and debugging tools of cellular embedded software.
  • Must have experience developing, integrating and testing software functions increasing competitiveness of the 4G/LTE Cellular platform substantially increasing the battery lifetime optimization.
  • Must have proficiency in programming languages: C/C++, Python. Must have proficiency/experience in 4G/LTE ALT 1250 Cat -M1/NB embedded software.

Travel Requirements:

Recurrent travel to customers and vendors throughout the U.S. Travel expenses reimbursed by employer.

Other requirements:

Telecommuting position. Must reside within commuting distance of the New York metropolitan area.
